C&K Develops Micro-Miniature, Surface Mount Detect Switch in Right and Left Actuation Configurations

Low profile detect design allows front or side actuation, long operating life to 100,000 cycles...

C&K Compoments has developed a new family of micro-miniature, side-actuated, surface mount detect switches in right and left actuation configurations. Designated the HDS Series, the low profile detect switches sit just 1.4mm off the PC board and feature a footprint of only 3mm x 3.5mm.

"The highly versatile HDS Series switches are not only available in right and left actuation options, but they can also be front or side actuated," said David Webber, product director for C&K Components. "Coupled with the low profile, the detect switches are ideal for applications ranging from networking equipment to consumer electronics to medical devices."

Specific applications for the HDS Series micro-miniature switches include portable medical equipment, computing and ATCA equipment, consumer electronics and mobile communication devices.

The HDS Series detect switches feature a minimum total travel of 1.07mm and a low actuation force of just 30 grams. Contact rating is 1mA @ 5VDC, with a maximum initial contact resistance of 500m? and a minimum insulation resistance of 100m? between adjacent contacts. Mechanical and electrical life is to 100,000 operations, and operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +80°C. RoHS compliant and compatible, the HDS Series switches are pick and place compatible and available in reel packaging (5,000 pieces per reel).
